Thank you for your email inquiry concerning INTERLINK Language Center
at Indiana State University. We hope it works out for you to come to
our school.
In order to process your application and issue your I-20, we must
receive the following application materials:
1. INTERLINK application
2. $100 application fee
3. Original school transcripts in English
4. An original letter of financial guarantee from your bank showing at
least $5500 available for one term (9 weeks).
5. An original signed letter of financial responsibility from the
person who will be financing your education, or an original scholarship
letter.
6. Copy of Passport
Nine week terms for 2008 run as follows:
Fall I-Aug 4-Oct 3, 2008
Fall II-Oct 13-Dec 12, 2008
Nine week terms for 2009 run as follows:
Spring I--- Jan.12-March 13, 2009
Spring II--- March 23-May 22, 2009
Summer--- June 01-July 31, 2009
Fall I--- Aug.10- Oct.09, 2009
Fall II--- Oct.19-Dec.18, 2009
Nine week costs run as follows: INTERLINK tuition ($2400), ISU room and
board (about $2375), medical insurance ($135), course books (about
$200), airport pick up if requested ($125). For students who live
on-campus in a dormitory hall, there is no meal plan during the summer
term so students must eat off campus during that time or eat at the
Student Union where the fast-food restaurants are located. Please note
that ISU normally increases the room and board fee every Fall.
We want all of our students to be successful. To help ensure this, we
admit students who have graduated from high school and maintained at
least a C average for their high school or college grades. Students
with very low GPA’s may not be admitted to INTERLINK and/or ISU.

included information which will help you make a decision about the
quality of our program and the student-centered services we provide.
What does this site include? We have included such items as an overview
of our curriculum, information about our faculty and staff, our student
services including optional homestay (upon availability), and weekend
opportunities with families in Terre Haute, as well as, all of the
academic programs offered at ISU.
INTERLINK's goal is to prepare students for a successful academic
program at Indiana State University. We are an academic language
program. The overwhelming majority of our students enter ISU after they
have studied with us.
INTERLINK students have full access to all of the ISU facilities. This
means that they can check books out of the ISU library and use all of
the library resources, use the sports facilities, participate in ISU
sports teams or events, join the ISU fitness centers, use the university
computer labs with full Internet access, live in ISU residential halls
if they choose, live in an ISU off campus apartment if they choose,
participate in all university clubs and activity groups, and hold an ISU
Student Identification card.
At the beginning of each term, all students are tested and placed into
one of our five levels, with five being the highest. We cannot predict
what level a student will be placed into and therefore are not sure how
long students will need to study in our program. In order to graduate
from the INTERLINK program, students must complete both core classes of
Level 5.
Level Five graduates of INTERLINK who have shown that they have the
necessary skills to succeed are automatically granted admission into ISU
undergraduate and graduate programs (if they are academically
acceptable) and do not need a TOEFL score.
Also, all INTERLINK students may enter ISU at any time if they score
500 (173 CBT/ 61 iBT) or above for undergraduate programs (with the
exception of the undergraduate business department, which requires a
550) and 550 (213 CBT/ 80 iBT) or above for graduate school. We cannot
predict how long an individual student will take to reach the required
score.
How is the INTERLINK curriculum different from other programs? Our
program is not organized around a textbook series. It is organized
around activities: you will conduct interviews and surveys, attend an
ISU class as part of the INTERLINK curriculum, work in groups on
projects, write research papers using the latest computer technology,
visit local high schools and businesses, just to name a few examples!
In addition, INTERLINK faculty hold an appropriate Masters degree and
are professionally active in state organizations, and many have
published in journals and have given presentations and workshops to
other teachers.
A student may apply for conditional admission at the same time they
apply to INTERLINK Language Center. If you choose to apply for
conditional admission to ISU via INTERLINK, we also need several other
application materials. First, you must complete an ISU application.
This can be found on-line at [http://baby.indstate.edu/iac]. In
addition, ISU requires a $25 application fee for undergraduates and a
$35 application fee for graduate students. You also must send an
original transcript and a certified English language translation of that
transcript.
INTERLINK and ISU also need a letter of financial guarantee from your
bank. If you are studying at INTERLINK only, the letter from the bank
must indicate a minimum balance of $5,000.00, which is the estimated
costs for one term. (You should show evidence of an additional $5000.00
for each term you plan to study at INTERLINK). As an undergraduate
wishing admission into ISU, the bank letter must indicate a minimum
balance of $26,466.00 and as a graduate student, $22,662.00. These
figures have been set by Indiana State University and are meant to
protect students from financial difficulty once they arrive in the
States.
Note: Because of recent Immigration regulations, it is very important
that you apply as early as possible.
